What does it mean to coupon?
To coupon means different things to different people. Some do extreme couponing where they pay almost nothing for cartloads of groceries. For us, here at Sexy Saving, we like to keep it simple. For us, to coupon means to shave off a decent amount off of our grocery bill, usually about 50%.
How much time does it take to plan a trip to the store?
That all depends on your skill level, how many items you plan to purchase, and how much you want to save. The longer you spend planning, the more you save. Don’t worry, the more you keep at it, the better (and quicker) you get!
Where do I find coupons?
There are lots of places to snag coupons. The most common are in the store, in the Sunday paper, in the mail, via email (by subscribing to company saving newsletters), on actual products, and probably the easiest of all, here on our site.
What do the numbers and slashes mean, like $2/2 ?
This one is pretty simple. The first amount is how much total money the coupon is worth. The second number is how many items must be bought for the coupon to be applied.
Example: A $2/2 coupon for barbeque sauce means you buy 2 bottles of sauce, and $2 will be deducted from your tab.
Example: A $0.75/1 coupon for pop tarts means you buy 1 box of pop tarts, and 75 cents will be deducted from your tab.
Can I use multiple coupons on one item?
Yes, you can! And that, my friend, is the beauty of couponing! Here’s what you do. Use one store coupon (like a Publix coupon) AND a manufacturer’s coupon.
For example, Publix has a coupon in their sale paper for $1 off Dial Body Wash, and the you found a manufacturer’s coupon online for $1 off. You can use BOTH and get two dollars off! That is BETTER than if they were on sale for buy one, get one free!
Does Publix really accept coupons from other stores?
Yes, each Publix takes different competitor store coupons. Popular competitor coupons they accept include coupons from Target and Winn Dixie. What??…Publix will take a Target coupon? Yes, it’s true. Amazing and true.
How do I find out which competitor coupons my Publix will take?
Look for a poster like the one below in the front lobby of your Publix. Sometimes they are posted on the outside windows as well.
If an item is on sale for buy one, get one free, can I use a coupon on the free item, too?
Yes, you can! And if you think it doesn’t get better than this, read on!
An item is on sale buy one, get one free, and I have a coupon that says buy one, get one free. Can I use it, and how will it work out?
Yes, you can use it, and it works to your favor! The way it works is that, BOTH items are free. Don’t worry, this isn’t a typo…you read right. BOTH ITEMS ARE FREE when an item is on sale buy one, get one free, and you have a coupon that states buy one, get one free. The coupon basically pays for the one that you would have paid for if you had no coupon. If this is confusing, just accept the awesomeness and call it a day.
